Adidas AG is among the leading manufacturers of sports goods in Germany, was founded by Adolf (Adi) Dassler. Adidas AG is a part of Adidas group which consists of some giant sports line manufacturer such as Reebok Shoes, Taylormade Golf Company, Maxfli Golf Balls and Adidas Golf. Adidas group has proved itself as a global leader in the sporting goods industry.



Adolf Dassler started to manufacture shoes in 1920 at Herzogenaurach with the assistance of his brother, Rudolf Dassler, who later founded another shoe company known as Puma AG. In 1928 Amsterdam Olympics, they provided their sports shoes without any cost to the athletes for marketing purpose. After 8 years, this marketing strategy produced a well deserved result when an American sprinter Jesse Owens won a gold medal in racing at the Berlin Olympic Games, wearing Adidas sports shoes. By 1931 both brothers were manufacturing special shoes for tennis players, and they soon realized that there is a need to manufacture specific shoes for specific sports game. <article resource>
